Daughters of The Sun

Daughters of The Sun

I created a collage art piece that was inspired by an Akashic Record reading I had a few months ago. It dove into the spiritual work my great-grandmother and her sister did when they were alive. A lot of imagery came forward to represent their work with curanderismo, and I felt the need to display it in a way to honor them. It’s like I could see it all come together as I journaled about the symbols that were described to me during the reading.

The colors, the use of the sun, dirt, and sunset background are all great representations of summer. The muñecas are a call to our inner child, of play, of remembering our ancestors were also children at one time, filled with wonder.

My great-grandmother’s courage to practice in her community, to partake in something that other’s judged her for, to unabashedly serve others in the way she felt called to, is in and of itself decolonial.
