On my art piece, featuring broken red shard glasses, inside the glasses are the uterus, money and coins behind, a syringe, and a birth control blister packet. The intense red color symbolizes urgency, chaos, and hopelessness against the yellow background. Expanding on it, it could also represent violence and struggles around reproductive justice.  The yellow is reminiscent of a warning sign to bring attention to it. The uterus represents reproductive health and women’s autonomy, and on the other side, it can represent hope and a chance to change. A syringe and birth control symbolize the health system being advanced women can have access to. But then, there’s money and coins behind it all, representing economic inequality and a lack of access to healthcare, such as no access to medical procedures, contraception, etc. Bringing this all together, or the lack thereof is seen as shattered glass, representing how broken reproductive rights are. This art is a call for awareness and action to fix the system that prevents reproductive rights for all.
