Dr. Garcia holds a PhD in Comparative Studies in Literature and Culture (USC) and is a part-time lecturer of French and Spanish at two CSU campuses (Los Angeles & Long Beach). An activist-scholar whose specializations include film, literatures, and cultures from Africa & the African Diaspora, Dr. Garcia is at work preparing submissions for peer-review publications. In their free time, they enjoy long walks with their dogs around Boyle Heights, bike rides, reading queer literatures, and screening foreign films. They have travelled and worked extensively in Africa, including as a Head of Sub-Office for the United Nations World Food Program.
