Sexual Violence Against Women

Sexual violence against women is a serious violation that varies from a range of harmful acts like rape, sexual assault,  harassment, and trafficking. This affects millions of women worldwide, regardless of age, ethnicity, economic status. Sexual violence is a very negative thing to endure but it can occur and be silenced due to gender inequality, and cultural norms. As a women, there has been so much that women have gone through in their lives and throughout history one being sexual violence against women. Sexual violence occurs throughout the world to many people, the rates on sexual violence agaisnt a women are usually at a high percentage. Women unfortunately have to face the consequences of the sexual violence. There are things like PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Latin American countries like Mexico, Honduras, and El Salvador have some of the highest femicide rates in the world. This quote also highlights how justice systems fail women and sexual violence is normalized. My argument is that women across the world endure these injustices. Many places like in Latin America, in the U.S Military, and even universities. It is very important to bring awareness to these injustices that women endure because most times and in most cases women are usually silenced or they are the most afraid to speak up. 

Higher education institutions play a big role in the topic of sexual violence prevention and how the institutions  response. Many institutions have handled sexual violence in their campus in negative ways as many of these cases are pushed aside or they are not given justice for what they have gone through.he military could be a very controversial and scary place to report sexual violence as sometimes sexual violence is done by people that are higher up than you in position so it leaves you with the fear of reporting the sexual abuse or it leaves you with no option, but stay silent because you would think no one would believe you in the military that is mostly men. sexual violence in Latin America should have stronger laws and enforcement but also raise awareness to the people around to break the cycle of normalizing sexual violence. For one that prioritizes gender equality, safety and respect for women. Sexual violence is an issue that is very important in Universities and it is an issue that has been circulating for many years and it is important to bring awareness to those people that even in college campuses as they survivors need the most support they can get as they are left with the consequences of others action actions.
